After catering my own wedding including making over 250 cupcakes I realized I
love cupcakes, love making cupcakes and can make some pretty darn good ones.
This led to making more cupcakes, and more cupcakes... and yes.. more. With the
word spreading from friend to friend’s friend, more people wanted my cupcakes.
So transformed my hobby into what now is Sacred Cupcake.
Without any cake decorating skills I began to focus on the taste and quality of the
cupcake itself then followed up with making them look good. The possibilities are
endless when it comes to flavors. At night I would lay awake coming up with new
and creative types of cupcakes. New, so I thought. I would come up with a grandiose idea for a new cupcake then would search online to see if it had been done.
Sigh, yes. Almost every one of my NEW ideas had been done in some way. My
ideas and recipes were always a little different so I decided I wouldn’t be discour
aged but that I would take the ideas, put my own little twist on them and make
them as tasty as possible.

Why Sacred Cupcake? The name Sacred Cupcake is a spin off of the old-school
Catholic sacred heart. Not only being a baker I am also a tattoo lover. I love kitsch
design, traditional tattoos and the look and flavor of it all. The definition of kitsch
being: A German word denoting art that is considered an inferior, tasteless copy
of an extant style of art or a worthless imitation of art of recognized value. I
guess a good way to describe it for most would be ‘tacky’. Your trash is my treasure kind of thing. What better way to combine my love for kitsch and cupcakes
but to combine something as beautiful and traditional as the sacred heart and
substitute the heart for a cupcake? Now that’s about as kitsch as you can get. It’s
like putting the kitsch in kitschen, har har, get it? kitchen.. kitschen.. ok.. moving
on...
With the idolization of cupcakes today, appearing everywhere from small towns
to large metropolises, Sacred Cupcake is devoted to taking the hand-held confection to a new, creative and delicious level.
As of now Sacred Cupcake is a hope hoping to become reality. A hobby that allows
me to share in people’s special occasions. Someday I hope to take Sacred Cupcake
out of my home kitchen and into a quaint, quirky shop wherever fate may take
us. But for now I am content with making them for family and friends. (Just remember I make friends easily) |
